Home Office Paint Ideas
Remote and hybrid work is the new normal for many workers, and as such many people now have dedicated home offices. However, a home office is not always conducive to productivity, at least not at first. It requires a little effort to recreate the space to help you get into “work mode.” A new paint job is an excellent way to help give your home office a new look and feel, and it will help you look more professional during Zoom meetings.
Here are some of our tips for home office painting, with some examples from our recent clients.

PAINT IDEAS FOR HOME OFFICES
There are a number of different projects you can work on to change up your home office, but here are some of the most common.
ACCENT WALL
Accent walls are a fun way to add a pop of color to your space without overwhelming it. Whether you are looking for something bright and expressive or something to elevate the classiness of the space, an accent wall is always a great option.
In the example below, the client added a purple wall to their library. It’s a bold and vibrant choice, and it definitely makes the room pop. However, it isn’t so overwhelming that it overpowers the other neutral tones in the space.
NEUTRAL COLORS
The obvious solution for a home office is to neutralize the space. When you’re working, you want to have a clear mind and maintain focus. There are a ton of neutral options that you could choose from, including popular gray colors, beige, and greige.
The example below is a stony gray-green called Aged Marble. It has a hint of green, which gives it a unique property while still being neutral.
Neutral colors also give you more flexibility for decorating, which is great if you have a lot of knick-knacks or items you like to hang on the wall.
GREENS AND NATURAL COLORS
As humans, we crave experiences in nature, and there are studies that show spending time in nature can improve your mental and physical health. It’s obviously difficult to enjoy time outside when there is work to be done, but you can trick your brain into evoking the same feelings with the right paint choice.
Color psychology suggests that seeing the right hues of green can evoke the same feelings as being in nature. So if you’re craving the outdoors, getting a nice green or other earthy color might be the right choice.
The project below is a great example of a home office that evokes nature in the paint job.
GO DARK
Painting the walls dark can add an air of sophistication to your office space, and that can help you get into the right mindset for high-level work. Dark colors look especially well on textured walls like the ones featured below. Deep navy colors are popular choices, as well as darker grays like Urban Bronze.
PAINT BOOKCASES
If you have built-in bookcases, giving them a fresh paint job can dramatically improve the quality of the space. That’s especially true if you paint them white. The bright color will make the space feel bigger, and give it a fresh and relaxing quality. Just look at the examples below to see what a big difference painted bookcases can have.
