The best way to think about labor is in terms of man-hours. A job may take 100 man-hours, and that’s the case whether one person a whole crew works on it. Most contractors will base their labor supplies on man-hours, and a good one will always explain it if you ask.

If you have questions about the labor, again always ask your contractor. They should be able to break it down for you. 

SUPPLIES

Supply costs can vary for a number of reasons. The obvious price factor is quality. Contractors who use cheaper and lower-quality products will charge lower prices. If your contractor uses a high quality kitchen cabinet paint, you may pay a little more but the finished product will look better and last a lot longer.

Prices can also go up or down depending on shortages and other economic conditions.

Hiring a company who provides product knowledge, experienced painters, and warranties with their work is priceless. If there’s no warranty, they aren’t standing behind their products or their painters craftsmanship. There’s lots you can do to select the right company for your project. Ask lots of questions, do your own research about the products that will be used and the company you will be working with. Read reviews, ask for referrals and/or have the company show you a sample cabinet of their work.
