Glazing Windows
Glazing windows is becoming a lost art. Many of our clients are still wanting to be historically responsible stewards of their own buildings and still need this service. Heritage Painting is proud to be a leader in Old window restoration by providing glazing services.
New windows of today provide much better insulation value. Some of our clients are still stuck with single pane glass that require a pin and some glazing to hold in the glass and keep it in place.

Some contractors will take shortcuts by simply placing a bead of caulking. Caulking is stretchy and expands and contracts in different climates and humidity. This short cut actually provides a weak point in the window system that will fail in time.
Additionally caulking these windows panes into place will not meet many of the historical standards required on preservation sites.
Heritage Painting is proud to serve central Indiana by providing a proper pinning of single pane, glass and glazing that mimics the original installation.
This service coupled with the approval by the EPA’s RRP certification separates Heritage Painting from a large percentage of the market.
Single pane, glazed and penned windows were made until the early 1950s. If you’re home was built prior to this you most likely have had or have glazing on your windows. The EPA classifies a house that is older than 1978 needs to be processed with RRP certification, considering that those homes might have lead-based paint on them. When you partner with Heritage Painting to discover if you’re home has a lead base paint on it and to process through properly and then to administrate the proper installation of window glazing compound to keep your single pain glass from falling out, you have made a choice to be a responsible Historical home or business owner. The installation of window glazing is not a fast process. As I’ve had the privilege of doing this process, it takes skill and a steady hand. Not only is it not fast in the installation, but it is not fast in the cure time. Depending on the temperatures in the humidity levels, the cure rate of most glazing compounds require requires anywhere from 14 to 30 days before it can be primed and painted.
